Viroqua's Wednesday painters group is a loose group of artists who have been gathering together since the early 90's to draw and paint the figure and landscape directly from life. We have gone through many iterations, meeting at various studios and painting locations throughout the years. During the winter months we meet to study the figure, and in the warmer months we gather outdoors to paint the landscape of the beautiful driftless region we call home.
Currently, our artists come together not only from Vernon County, but from Crawford, Richland, La Crosse and Monroe counties as well. The “Neighborhood” show at Viva Gallery is a small sampling of work by the present Wednesday painters group, who remain committed to art, community and observation.
