Oil Painter Kathie Wheeler is VIVA’s Guest Artist for October!
Artist Statement:
Drawing and painting have been a lifelong passion for me, from my earliest struggles to put down on paper what I see to my striving to understand color. This body of work is made up of both smaller studies often done on location to larger studio pieces.
Some of the paintings have color swatches next to them with the colors that were used in that painting. Limiting the pigments to use not only helps with harmony But also forces the artist to learn how colors play against each other to help create what we want to say in a painting.
I show these paintings not as an artist who has arrived, but to give a glimpse into my journey as an artist.
