Four Emerging Artists Featured at VIVA Gallery during the month of October!
VIVA Gallery's October Show Features Four Emerging Artists!
Join us for our 1st Thursday Reception, October 6, 5-7 pm
Tapestry Fiber Artist Jan Friedman is VIVA’s September Guest Artist!
“I weave tapestries and fiber collages with a wide variety of materials. My pieces draw their inspiration from sky, water, land, and vegetation. In my current work, I am concentrating on what we stand to lose because of climate change and the dire necessity of countering this threat.”
Woodworker Adrian Ugo is VIVA’s August Guest Artist!
“Using simple shapes and minimalistic lines, I aspire to design and build artistic and functional pieces that highlight the intrinsic beauty of the material I work with. I enjoy experimenting with balance, proportion, and angles to produce unique and challenging designs.”
Painter Erika Broser is VIVA’s July Guest Artist!
“Watercolors, for me, are a metaphor for life. They require a delicate balance of control and letting go. The magic happens when I have a vision but can trust and allow the paint to guide and surprise me.”
VIVA’s June Pottery Show features 3 guest artists and 2 member artists!
VIVA Gallery celebrates the month of June with a Pottery Show featuring the work of three guest artists and two VIVA member artists!
Painter Katherine Ford is VIVA’s May Guest Artist!
“I try to bring out childlike sense of wonder in my work. My subjects may be common but the images are not always recognizable and I hope this will stimulate a curiosity to find out more about what the items are in the paintings or what kind of story they tell or trigger a memory of the viewers story.”
Woodworker Ray Bock is VIVA’s April Guest Artist!
“Since 2008, I have been making small, architecturally inspired boxes in exotic and figured solid woods and veneers. I also have a line of elegant elliptical hardwood and veneer bowls.”
Textile Artist Leah Evans is VIVA’s March Guest Artist!
“My work is a combination of quilting, dyeing, and embroidery. I am striving toward sustainable studio practices by repurposing fabrics bound for the landfill and using hand techniques as much as possible. The themes in my work explore the relationships between humans and the landscape. As a result I work with a variety of imagery including satellite imagery of impacted landscapes, USGS maps, historic maps, and my own memories of viewing the landscape through a car window.”
